I’ll be reading some poems at the Swan Theatre in Worcester on Friday 24th April as part of ITCH! The Worcester Scratch. The event starts at 7:45pm and you can buy tickets here.

“Neil Laurenson wants to be a rock star. He clings onto this dream despite a notable lack of musical talent. Instead of shaking his fists at the gods and sobbing in a corner of his local Wetherspoons, Neil has written Fair Isle Death Metal. This is also a nod to his Shetland roots, though he is the least frightening Viking you will ever meet. Instead of wielding an axe, he flings puns and steaming piles of wit. Despite originating from a soggy island in the North Sea, he has been described as “drier than the Sahara Desert.” This is a reference to his humour not his eczema. Fair Isle Death Metalis poetry and it rhymes, but not all the while. It is about masking and coping, as well as laughing. If Mr Blobby and Rage Against The Machine did a collab, it might sound like Fair Isle Death Metal. You have been warned.”
